Sushi domain-containing protein 5 is a human membrane protein encoded by the SUSD5 gene. The protein contains multiple “sushi domains”—structural domains commonly involved in protein–protein or glycan interactions. It is predicted to bind hyaluronic acid via a specialized “link domain” and may play a role in the Notch signaling pathway, although its precise molecular function is unresolved. SUSD5 has been identified as differentially expressed in some cancer proteomic studies, but is not currently established as a therapeutic or diagnostic target, and no interacting drugs or known biomarkers are reported. Diseases associated with SUSD5 include Sneddon syndrome and several cancers based on indirect network analyses.
