Target intelligence / Profile preview
SV2C antisense RNA 2 (SV2C-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA gene transcribed antisense to the SV2C gene locus. It does not code for a protein and its biological function remains unclear. Unlike protein targets, SV2C-AS2 is not currently recognized as a therapeutic target or directly implicated in human disease. No drugs or biomarkers are known to interact with or require monitoring of this lncRNA. Information about its regulatory or pathophysiological roles is not available in standard gene or drug target databases[1][3]. Do not confuse SV2C-AS2 (a non-coding RNA) with the protein-coding gene Synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2C (SV2C), which is involved in neurotransmitter release and is implicated in diseases like Parkinson's disease. SV2C is a membrane protein and bona fide therapeutic target; SV2C-AS2 is not[5][8].
