Overview

Sweat ducts are anatomical structures, not molecular targets or receptors. They are the tubular components of sweat glands (including both eccrine and apocrine types) that transport sweat from the secretory segment of the gland through the skin to the surface. The portion of the sweat duct that traverses the epidermis is specifically known as the acrosyringium[7][3][1]. Sweat ducts themselves do not have individual biological activity outside of their structural and excretory function and are not pharmacological or therapeutic targets. Instead, therapeutics affecting sweat gland disorders act on regulatory pathways of sweat production or affect the entire sweat gland. Thus, "sweat ducts" is not a correct or precise name for any molecular drug target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other actionable protein structure, but rather refers to a component of the glandular apparatus.
