Sweat Gland Duct

Molecular classification
Epithelial Tissue, Duct
01

Overview

The sweat gland duct is a tubular structure that forms part of both eccrine and apocrine sweat glands. Its primary role is to transport the secretory product (sweat) from the secretory portion of the gland to either the skin surface (eccrine) or into hair follicles (apocrine). The duct also plays a crucial physiological role in modifying sweat composition, particularly through reabsorption processes, mainly sodium and chloride ions.
