The SWI5 recombination repair homolog pseudogene (ENSG00000271149) is a non-coding genomic locus, classified as a pseudogene of the SWI5 gene. Unlike the functional SWI5 gene, which encodes a protein involved in homologous recombination and DNA double-strand break repair, the pseudogene does not produce a functional protein and has no known biological or therapeutic role. Functional SWI5 protein forms a complex with MEI5 (or SFR1 in fission yeast) to stimulate RAD51-mediated strand exchange in homologous recombination and is essential for maintaining genomic stability, but the pseudogene does not contribute to these processes[2][3][4].
