Overview

SWT1 RNA endoribonuclease homolog is a nuclear protein encoded by the SWT1 gene, functioning as an endoribonuclease involved in transcription and the quality control of mRNAs, particularly in the processing and surveillance of aberrant messenger ribonucleoprotein particles (mRNPs)[4][7]. It is predicted to localize to the nucleus and is considered essential in regulating proper RNA metabolism. SWT1 has been implicated in certain cancers, including kidney rhabdoid cancer and kidney sarcoma, though no therapeutic drugs are reported to directly target this protein as of the available literature[2][3][6]. The gene is also referred to as C1orf26 and HsSwt1 in genomic databases.
