While SV2 proteins are directly involved in calcium-dependent neurotransmitter release and constitute recognized drug targets, SVOP's functional roles are less characterized; current evidence supports involvement in synaptic vesicle biology but not in classical neurotransmitter or ion transport[1][3][5]. There are no clinically validated drugs known to target SVOP, and it does not serve as a common biomarker or established disease target in human medicine as of current knowledge[1][3][5].
