Overview

Synaptogyrin 2 pseudogene 1 (SYNGR2P1) is a processed pseudogene located on chromosome 15q11 in humans[2]. It is homologous to the transmembrane protein-coding gene synaptogyrin 2 (SYNGR2), but does not encode a functional protein. SYNGR2P1 is not known to be transcribed or translated, and no biological or pathological functions have been ascribed to it. Its presence is used primarily as a genomic or evolutionary marker, not as a drug or therapeutic target. SYNGR2P1 is a non-functional pseudogene, not a protein, receptor, or enzyme. It is not a therapeutic or diagnostic target. It is not involved in any recognized biological pathways, disease roles, or drug interactions. Its parent gene, SYNGR2 (Synaptogyrin 2), is functional and involved in membrane trafficking and infection susceptibility[1][4][5], but SYNGR2P1 does not share these properties.
