Overview

Synaptopodin 2-like protein (SYNPO2L) is an actin-associated protein predicted to play a role in modulating actin-based cell shape and organization, particularly in muscle tissues. This protein binds to actin, is thought to be involved in sarcomere organization, stress fiber assembly, and may positively regulate Rho protein signaling. It localizes to the cytoplasm, actin cytoskeleton, Z disc, and possibly the nucleus. Mutations in SYNPO2L have been associated with familial atrial fibrillation and familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, suggesting a role in cardiac muscle structure or function. Currently, there are no known drugs directly targeting SYNPO2L, and it is not widely considered a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or ion channel[2][6].
