SYNE1 antisense RNA 1 (SYNE1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand of the SYNE1 gene locus. As an antisense RNA, it is theorized to regulate the expression of the SYNE1 gene or potentially other genes through mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, recruitment of chromatin modifiers, or modulation of mRNA stability and translation[3]. While natural antisense transcripts are increasingly recognized for their regulatory roles in gene expression at multiple molecular levels, there is currently no direct evidence linking SYNE1-AS1 to a specific disease or identifying it as a therapeutic target. No drugs or biomarkers are established for this molecule, and there are no unique safety concerns related to it at this time.
