Target intelligence / Profile preview
The "synovial sarcoma translocation gene on chromosome 18-like 1 pseudogene" (ENSG00000271559) is a non-functional genomic sequence with homology to the synovial sarcoma translocation gene (SS18/SYT) but does not encode a functional protein product. Pseudogenes such as this are generally classified as genetic relics and, unless specifically shown otherwise, do not have direct biological or pathological roles. The canonical SS18 protein is implicated in synovial sarcoma due to somatic chromosomal translocations producing fusion proteins with SSX1 or SSX2[7][4], but the pseudogene variant itself is not involved in disease mechanisms and is not therapeutically actionable[2][5][8].
