SYNPO2L antisense RNA 1 (SYNPO2L-AS1)

Target
SYNPO2L-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA
01

Overview

SYNPO2L antisense RNA 1 (SYNPO2L-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antiparallel to the SYNPO2L gene locus. Its main biological function has not been experimentally established, but by analogy with other antisense RNAs, it may affect the expression of the sense SYNPO2L gene via cis or trans regulatory mechanisms. Antisense non-coding RNAs can regulate gene expression at various molecular levels, including transcriptional interference, modification of chromatin structure, or post-transcriptional regulation such as mRNA stability and translation. No evidence currently supports SYNPO2L-AS1 as a direct therapeutic target, biomarker, or interactor for drugs, nor is it linked to any specific disease independently of the SYNPO2L protein-coding gene.
