SYT1 antisense RNA 1 is a long non-coding antisense RNA transcribed from the genomic region antisense to the Synaptotagmin-1 (SYT1) gene[4]. Like other antisense RNAs, SYT1-AS1 likely plays a regulatory role by interacting with SYT1 mRNA, potentially influencing transcription, translation, mRNA stability, or chromatin structure, either in cis (locally) or trans (globally)[2]. The precise biological significance, disease relevance, and molecular mechanisms of SYT1-AS1 remain poorly characterized, as is common for many antisense long non-coding RNAs. There are currently no drugs or clinical applications targeting SYT1-AS1, and it is not employed as a biomarker. *Note*: If your intention was to refer to Synaptotagmin-1 (SYT1), which is a well-known calcium sensor and therapeutic target in neurology and synaptic transmission research, the information would differ significantly[1][3][5][7]. SYT1-AS1, however, refers specifically to the non-coding RNA, not the protein.
