Overview

SYT9 antisense RNA 1 (SYT9-AS1), also known as CTD-2516F10.2, is a long non-coding RNA transcribed antisense to the synaptotagmin 9 (SYT9) gene locus. Its molecular function, biology, and disease relevance remain largely uncharacterized in public research and molecular databases. Unlike the protein-coding SYT9, which is involved in calcium-dependent vesicular trafficking and neurotransmitter release in select brain regions[1][2][3], SYT9-AS1 has no established therapeutic or biomarker relevance. It is catalogued as a lncRNA by genome annotation resources but has not been directly studied as a drug target, disease biomarker, or in safety evaluations. Note: SYT9-AS1 should not be confused with SYT9, the protein-coding gene encoding synaptotagmin 9, which is studied for its role in neuronal exocytosis, synaptic transmission, and potential roles in neurological function and disorders[1][2][3]. No known drugs, mechanisms, or biomarkers involve SYT9-AS1, and current scientific evidence does not support therapeutic targeting or functional studies of this antisense RNA.
