T-box 20 pseudogene

T-box 20 pseudogene is a non-coding genomic element showing very high sequence homology (98.4%) to parts of the protein-coding gene T-box 20 (*TBX20*), specifically covering exons 5 and 6, and located on human chromosome 12[1]. Pseudogenes do not encode functional proteins and generally do not have established biological functions or direct disease associations. TBX20 itself is a T-box family transcription factor essential for cardiac development, but the pseudogene does not share these functions or roles[1][4][7]. Pseudogene expression has been explored as a marker in some cancer classification studies, but there is no evidence that this specific pseudogene has clinical or therapeutic utility[3].
