T Cell and Mast Cell Inflammatory Cytokines

Molecular classification
Cytokines, Proteins, Signaling molecules
01

Overview

T cells and mast cells are key players in the immune system, secreting a variety of cytokines that mediate and regulate inflammation. T cells produce cytokines such as IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-2, and IL-17 (pro-inflammatory) and IL-10 and TGF-β (anti-inflammatory/regulatory). Mast cells release TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1 (pro-inflammatory) and IL-10 (anti-inflammatory), among other mediators like histamine and leukotrienes. The balance between these cytokines determines the outcome of immune responses, influencing the development and resolution of inflammatory diseases. The interaction between these cell types is bidirectional and complex. Both pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines produced by these cells are of great significance.
