T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 3 (TIM-3), also known as Hepatitis A virus cellular receptor 2 (HAVCR2) or CD366, is an immunoregulatory protein that plays a crucial role in modulating immune responses. TIM-3 is expressed on multiple hematopoietic cell types and interacts with ligands such as Galectin-9, Phosphatidylserine, HMGB1 and CEACAM1. It regulates T cell exhaustion, immune homeostasis, TCR signaling, Treg function and myeloid cell function, and is a target for cancer immunotherapy.
