TRAJ12 is a human gene segment encoding the 12th joining region of the T cell receptor alpha chain. During T cell development, TRAJ12 can be recombined with various alpha chain variable (TRAV) and constant (TRAC) segments to generate functional αβ T cell receptors[3][4]. These recombination events underpin the incredible diversity of T cell antigen recognition, central to immune function[1][4][5]. TRAJ12, like other TRJ segments, is not itself expressed as a standalone protein but forms part of the mature receptor after VJ recombination.
