Overview

TRAJ12 is a human gene segment encoding the 12th joining region of the T cell receptor alpha chain. During T cell development, TRAJ12 can be recombined with various alpha chain variable (TRAV) and constant (TRAC) segments to generate functional αβ T cell receptors[3][4]. These recombination events underpin the incredible diversity of T cell antigen recognition, central to immune function[1][4][5]. TRAJ12, like other TRJ segments, is not itself expressed as a standalone protein but forms part of the mature receptor after VJ recombination. The TCRs containing TRAJ12 participate in the adaptive immune response, recognizing peptide-MHC complexes presented by antigen-presenting cells. While TCR diversity involving TRAJ12 can influence how the immune system responds to pathogens or self-antigens, TRAJ12 is not a direct target for drugs, nor is it specifically associated with biomarkers or safety challenges. TRAJ12 is a joining region gene segment of the T cell receptor alpha chain, critical for the generation of diverse TCRs but not itself considered a drug target or therapeutic receptor. It contributes to immune receptor diversity but has no standalone disease roles, drug interactions, or biomarker utility[3][4][6].
