Overview

T cell receptor alpha joining 14 (TRAJ14) is a gene segment in the human genome that encodes one of the joining (J) segments used during the somatic recombination of T cell receptor (TCR) alpha chains[6]. TRAJ14 is not a full-length receptor or enzyme itself but rather a genetic element contributing to the diversity of the T cell receptor repertoire. During T cell development, TRAJ14 can be joined to various TCR alpha variable (V) segments and paired with a TCR alpha constant (C) region via V-J recombination, thereby enabling the generation of T cell receptors capable of recognizing a vast array of antigens presented by the major histocompatibility complex (MHC)[6][7]. There are no known drugs or therapies that directly target TRAJ14, nor does TRAJ14 itself have a direct, stand-alone role in disease beyond its participation as a component of TCR diversity, which is essential for robust adaptive immunity[6].
