Overview

T cell receptor alpha joining 27 (TRAJ27) is a *joining (J) gene segment* within the T cell receptor (TCR) alpha (TRA) locus. It is not a functional receptor or protein on its own, but instead serves as a genetic component that, via somatic recombination, contributes to the diversity of the antigen-binding site of the T cell receptor alpha chain in developing T cells. As such, TRAJ27 does not function as a therapeutic target and should not be confused with a protein drug target or cell surface receptor. Instead, it forms part of the molecular machinery underlying adaptive immune recognition through the generation of T cell receptor diversity during T cell development[1][3][4]. **Note:** TRAJ27 is a gene segment, not a standalone protein or receptor, and thus is not considered a therapeutic target in the conventional sense. Its biological role is as an element of T cell receptor gene rearrangement, not as a functional or druggable entity.
