Overview

T cell receptor alpha joining 3 (TRAJ3) is a gene segment within the T cell receptor alpha locus, classified as a "joining" (J) region segment. It contributes to the diversity of the T cell receptor (TCR) by recombining with variable (V) and constant (C) gene segments during TCR development. The resulting receptor, composed of an alpha and a beta chain, is essential for antigen recognition by alpha-beta T cells and plays an integral part in the adaptive immune system. However, TRAJ3 itself is not a receptor, enzyme, or protein target, but rather a short genomic element required for assembling functional TCR alpha chains and is not considered a drug or therapeutic target[2][3][5][6][8].
