TRAJ51 is a joining (J) segment within the T cell receptor alpha locus on chromosome 14, classified as a pseudogene in humans. The T cell receptor itself, expressed on T lymphocytes, is integral to antigen recognition and immune response, but TRAJ51 does not produce a functional protein and is incapable of direct receptor activity. T cell receptor diversity is generated by recombination of variable (V), joining (J), and constant (C) gene segments, but segments annotated as pseudogenes—such as TRAJ51—do not participate in forming functional receptors
