Overview

TRAJ6 is a joining gene segment within the human T cell receptor alpha locus. During T cell development, TRAJ6 can be joined with any one of many variable (TRAV) segments to form the variable region of the T cell receptor alpha chain. This recombination generates antigen specificity and diversity required for immune recognition. The TCR itself is a heterodimeric, membrane-anchored protein critical for antigen recognition, T cell activation, and adaptive immunity. TRAJ6 is therefore a genetic component necessary for T cell receptor construction, not a functional protein or therapeutic target.
