T cell receptor alpha variable 30 (TRAV30)

Target
TRAV30
Molecular classification
Immunoglobulin superfamily, Receptor (variable domain segment of the T cell receptor alpha chain)
01

Overview

T cell receptor alpha variable 30 (TRAV30) encodes a variable region segment of the TCR alpha chain, which is used during V(J) recombination in the thymus to generate the antigen specificity of individual T cells. The TCR complex, consisting of alpha and beta chains (or, less commonly, gamma and delta), recognizes specific peptide antigens presented on major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules on antigen-presenting cells, playing a central role in the adaptive immune response. The diversity arising from segments like TRAV30 enables the immune system to recognize a wide array of antigens. TRAV30, as a germline-encoded V segment, is part of the enormous combinatorial diversity that determines the specificity of each T cell clone.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable for TRAV30 directly. For drugs targeting the TCR complex or T cells: Inhibition or activation of T cell activation and proliferation via TCR complex signaling modulation.
