T cell receptor alpha variable 33 (TRAV33) is a segment within the T cell receptor alpha (TRA) locus, labeled as a **pseudogene** in the human genome[1]. The TRA locus contains variable (V), joining (J), and constant (C) gene segments that undergo somatic recombination to create diversity in the antigen recognition domains of T cell receptors. However, several V and J segments are incapable of coding for functional proteins and are deemed pseudogenes. TRAV33 is one of these nonproductive segments and does not participate directly in forming functional T cell receptor proteins[1]. As such, it currently has no established role in physiology, immune response, or disease, and is not considered a therapeutic target.
