T cell receptor alpha variable 8-1 (TRAV8-1) is a gene segment encoding a variable region of the alpha chain of the T cell receptor (TCR), which is essential for the recognition of foreign antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules on the surface of antigen-presenting cells.
