Overview

T cell receptor beta joining 2-2 is a protein-coding gene segment found within the human TCR beta locus[4]. It encodes the J region of the TCR beta chain involved in the crucial antigen recognition process of T lymphocytes. The TRBJ2-2 segment is recombined together with one of several variable (TRBV) and diversity (TRBD) segments to form the V-D-J region of the beta chain, generating a mature TCR with unique specificity for peptide-major histocompatibility complexes (pMHC) displayed by antigen-presenting cells. This process underpins adaptive immunity, allowing T cells to recognize a vast array of antigens. As a genetic segment, TRBJ2-2 itself does not function as a receptor or therapeutic target, but contributes to the diversity and specificity of T cell immune responses through its role in repertoire generation and junctional diversity[4][3][5].
