T cell receptor beta joining 2-2P (TRBJ2-2P) is a non-functional, pseudogene segment within the cluster of joining (J) region gene segments on the T cell receptor beta (TRB) locus. The T cell receptor beta chain is a component of the αβ T cell receptor, which is critical for antigen recognition by T lymphocytes. However, as a pseudogene, TRBJ2-2P does not give rise to a functional joining sequence or contribute to the diversity of the β chain. It does not produce a protein product and has no known physiological or pathological roles. The T cell receptor beta chain is generated by recombination of variable (V), diversity (D), and joining (J) gene segments, but pseudogenes such as TRBJ2-2P are non-functional and not included in mature, expressed receptors. TRBJ2-2P may be annotated in bioinformatics or genomics databases, but is of research interest only for mapping, evolutionary, or diversity studies—not for therapeutic intervention or disease association. Unlike genuine TCRB J segments, it provides no signal transduction, immune function, or disease relevance. In summary, TRBJ2-2P is a pseudogene in the TCR β locus with no protein product, molecular function, or disease relevance, and is not a drug target.
