T cell receptor beta joining 2-3 (TRBJ2-3) is a gene segment encoding the joining region of the beta chain variable domain of the alpha-beta T cell receptor complex. This complex, expressed on T lymphocytes, is critical for antigen recognition and immune response. TRBJ2-3 participates in the V(D)J recombination process, generating the vast diversity of the T cell receptor repertoire, principally influencing the complementarity determining region 3 (CDR3) that directly contacts antigens presented on major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. TRBJ2-3 is not itself a receptor protein nor a direct therapeutic target but is an essential component of adaptive immunity and is extensively used as a marker in immunological research, repertoire sequencing, and immune monitoring. Its gene rearrangement and expression profile provide insights into T cell development, antigen-specific memory, and clonal expansion in infections, cancer, and autoimmune diseases[1][2][3][4][5].
