Overview

TRBJ2-6 (T cell receptor beta joining 2-6) is one of the joining (J) gene segments of the T cell receptor beta (TCRβ) locus. These segments play a central role in the assembly of the TCR beta chain via somatic recombination, forming the highly diverse complementarity-determining region 3 (CDR3) that enables T cells to recognize a vast array of peptide antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules[7][2][5]. In the human TCR beta locus, multiple joining gene segments (including TRBJ2-6) are available for recombination, contributing to the immense structural diversity of T cell receptors and enabling effective adaptive immune defense. TRBJ2-6 itself is not a receptor or protein but encodes part of the final TCRβ protein sequence after recombination. It is essential for generating antigen specificity in T cells, but is not directly targeted by therapeutic agents nor commonly used as a clinical biomarker[7][5][3].
