Overview

T cell receptor beta variable 11-1 (TRBV11-1) is a germline-encoded variable gene segment of the T cell receptor beta chain locus. It encodes part of the variable domain of the T cell receptor (TCR) beta chain, which, together with an alpha chain, forms the antigen-binding site of the TCR expressed on the surface of T lymphocytes. The TRBV11-1 segment contributes to the diversity of the TCR repertoire, enabling recognition of a broad range of peptide antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. Skewed usage or monoclonal expansion of TRBV11-1 has been observed in various immune responses, including viral infections and cancer, but TRBV11-1 itself is not independently druggable. It is important as a biomarker for disease monitoring and immune status analysis, rather than as a direct therapeutic target. TRBV11-1 is not a unique protein but part of the somatic recombination process generating variable regions of TCRs. It functions through inclusion in a mature TCR, essential for T cell antigen specificity and immune response. Significant in immune repertoire skewing, possibly as a marker in infection (e.g. hepatitis B) and immune profiling. No known drugs directly interact with, or target, the TRBV11-1 gene segment or its product. When reporting or structuring information, refer to the genomic forename "T cell receptor beta variable 11-1," using abbreviation "TRBV11-1."
