T cell receptor beta variable 15 (TRBV15)

T cell receptor beta variable 15 (TRBV15) is a protein coding gene that encodes one of the variable regions of the beta chain of the T cell receptor (TCR) complex in humans. The TCR complex is critical for the adaptive immune system, enabling T cells to recognize and respond to a wide array of antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules on the surfaces of other cells. TRBV15 specifically contributes to the antigen-binding diversity of TCRs by offering unique variable (V) gene segment sequences, generated through somatic recombination with other TCR gene segments. As such, TRBV15 plays a role in immune surveillance, autoimmune risk, infection control, and is increasingly studied in cancer immunotherapy and adoptive T cell therapies, where TCR gene segments are harnessed for tumor antigen targeting.
