T cell receptor beta variable 20-1 (TRBV20-1)

T cell receptor beta variable 20-1 (TRBV20-1) encodes the variable region of the beta chain of the T cell receptor (TCR), a critical component of the immune system. The TCR is a heterodimeric protein complex usually comprising an alpha and a beta chain, both of which are highly variable due to V(D)J recombination, enabling recognition of a vast repertoire of antigens presented by the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) on antigen presenting cells. TRBV20-1 is one of the most commonly used variable gene segments in human T cell populations and is part of the TCR complex on T lymphocytes that mediates antigen-specific recognition, leading to immune cell activation, signaling via the CD3 complex, and downstream pathways including MAPK and NF-κB activation.
