Target intelligence / Profile preview
T cell receptor beta variable 29-1 (TRBV29-1) is a protein encoded by the TRBV29-1 gene, forming part of the variable region of the beta chain of alpha-beta T cell receptors, which are essential for adaptive immunity[1][8]. The protein resides in the plasma membrane and is integral to antigen recognition, where the variable domain binds peptide-MHC complexes presented by antigen-presenting cells[1][3][8]. This binding initiates a signaling cascade via the associated CD3 complex, ultimately driving T cell activation and differentiation. The diversity of the TCR beta chains, including TRBV29-1, arises from V(D)J recombination during T cell development in the thymus[1]. Polymorphisms in the TRBV regions, including TRBV29-1, have been implicated in the risk and modulation of autoimmunity and immune-related adverse events during cancer immunotherapy, and may serve as predictive biomarkers in this context[4]. TRBV29-1 is therefore centrally involved in immune recognition and regulation, making it a notable target in immunological diseases and therapeutic interventions.
