T cell receptor beta variable 4-1 is a protein-coding gene segment encoding the variable region of the beta chain of the T cell receptor complex. This region contributes to antigen specificity; T cell receptors recognize peptides presented by major histocompatibility complexes on antigen-presenting cells. TRBV4-1 participates in signal transduction leading to T cell activation and immune effector functions and is part of a highly diverse receptor family generated through gene rearrangement in the thymus.
