T cell receptor beta variable 8-2 (TRBV8-2) is annotated as a pseudogene in the human genome, meaning it does not encode a functional beta chain variable region protein[5]. As a member of the TCR beta variable gene family, it is homologous to functional TRBV segments in mice, where TRBV8-2 participates in antigen recognition by forming part of the TCR complex that mediates adaptive immune responses. In humans, pseudogenes like TRBV8-2 are generally considered non-functional, lacking protein coding capacity and not contributing directly to immune recognition, signaling, or therapeutic targeting. However, variable usage and skewing of other TRBV members can be observed in disease states such as viral infection and cancer[1]. "TRBV82" and "TCRBV32S1P" are alternative gene designations referring to this locus.
