Target intelligence / Profile preview
TRBC1 encodes one variant of the β-chain constant region in human alpha-beta T-cell receptors. It plays an essential role in adaptive immunity by supporting antigen recognition via its association with other components within the multi-protein surface complex. Its mutually exclusive expression pattern makes it valuable as both a diagnostic marker for clonal expansions seen in certain leukemias/lymphomas and as a selective therapeutic target that may allow eradication of pathogenic clones while preserving overall immune function.
