T cell receptor gamma joining segment P (TRGJP) encodes one of several joining (J) gene segments in the gamma chain locus of the T cell receptor (TCR) gene. The TCR gamma locus contains variable (V), joining (J), and constant (C) gene segments, whose somatic recombination creates the variable region of the TCR γ chain[1][3][5]. TRGJP is not a standalone receptor or protein but is incorporated via site-specific recombination during the development of gamma delta T cells. These segments increase the diversity of the TCR repertoire, essential for immune recognition. Although recombination involving TRGJP can be detected in studies of T cell clonality (such as in T cell lymphoproliferative disorders), this segment does not have independent molecular or pharmacological functions outside the context of the complete TCR[1][3][5].
