T cell receptor gamma variable 10 (TRGV10) is a human pseudogene located within the T cell receptor gamma (TRG) locus on chromosome 7.[1][7] It encodes a non-functional open reading frame (ORF) due to a mutation in the leader donor splice site, which inhibits correct splicing and precludes the formation of a productive T cell receptor gamma chain in humans.[3][7] While functional in non-human primates (such as chimpanzees and gorillas), the human TRGV10 gene is unable to contribute to the adaptive immune response. Generally, the physiologically active T cell receptor gamma chains participate in antigen recognition and T cell–mediated immune responses, but the TRGV10 pseudogene does not produce a functional protein and is therefore not considered a therapeutic or pharmacological target.[1][3][7]
