T cell receptor gamma variable 5 (TRGV5)

T cell receptor gamma variable 5 (TRGV5) encodes the variable region of the gamma chain in the γδ T cell receptor complex, a membrane-bound heterodimer present on a subset of T lymphocytes[1][7]. The TRGV5-containing TCR is produced through somatic rearrangement of variable (V), diversity (D), and joining (J) gene segments, conferring antigen specificity[1]. TRGV5 participates in the recognition of a broad range of non-peptide antigens (including lipids and phosphoantigens), often independently of the major histocompatibility complex, and can activate rapid innate-like immune responses at epithelial barriers[1][5].
