Overview

The T cell receptor (TCR) pathway is a critical signaling cascade in adaptive immunity, responsible for the activation and function of T lymphocytes. The pathway is initiated when the TCR complex on the surface of a T cell recognizes and binds to antigenic peptides presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules on antigen-presenting cells (APCs). This recognition event triggers a series of intracellular signaling events that ultimately determine the fate of the T cell, including cytokine production, survival, proliferation, differentiation into effector or memory cells, and cytotoxic activity.
