Target intelligence / Profile preview
The T-cell receptor (TCR) recognizing the EO2318-derived peptide–MHC complex is a specific immune target involved in cancer immunotherapy, particularly within the framework of microbiome-derived 'OncoMimics'. EO2318 is a synthetic peptide mimic of a specific epitope from Interleukin-13 receptor alpha 2 (IL13Ra2), a tumor-associated antigen frequently overexpressed in glioblastoma and other aggressive cancers (Source: Enterome, 'EO2401 Clinical Trials', 2023). By presenting EO2318 on MHC Class I molecules (typically HLA-A2), the immune system can be trained to generate or expand a population of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTLs) whose TCRs specifically bind this complex. This recognition triggers a targeted immune response against tumor cells that display the native IL13Ra2 peptide. This approach leverages 'molecular mimicry' between gut bacteria-derived antigens and human tumor antigens to overcome self-tolerance and enhance anti-tumor surveillance (Source: 'Nature Communications', 2021, 12: 1-15). Clinical applications focus on therapeutic vaccines like EO2401, which include EO2318 to treat recurrent glioblastoma and adrenocortical carcinoma.
The target is the endogenous or therapeutically induced T-cell receptor that recognizes the EO2318 peptide (a microbiome-derived mimic of the tumor-associated antigen IL13Ra2) presented on MHC Class I molecules. Activation of these T-cells leads to the targeted destruction of tumor cells expressing IL13Ra2.
