T cell surface antigen CD52

Molecular classification
Glycoprotein, Cell surface antigen
01

Overview

CD52 is a small, highly glycosylated protein anchored to the cell membrane via a GPI linkage. It is highly expressed on mature lymphocytes (T cells and B cells), monocytes, dendritic cells, and spermatozoa. It functions in immune regulation, possibly through interactions with Siglec-10 and by modulating calcium signaling. It is a target for alemtuzumab, an antibody used to deplete lymphocytes in the treatment of certain leukemias, lymphomas, and multiple sclerosis.
