The CD3 antigen is a multimeric protein complex found on the surface of T lymphocytes, serving as a co-receptor for the T cell receptor (TCR). It is essential for transducing activation signals into the cell upon antigen recognition, initiating intracellular signaling cascades, supporting proper assembly and surface expression of the TCR-CD3 complex, and facilitating thymocyte differentiation.
