Overview

T-complex protein 11-like protein 2 is encoded by the TCP11L2 gene. It is a cytoplasmic protein with uncertain and emerging biological roles. In humans, it is predicted to promote migration of muscle-derived satellite cells—important for muscle regeneration—likely through interactions with FMNL2 and involvement in microfilament assembly[2][5][9]. Its molecular classification does not fit classic categories such as enzyme or receptor; instead, it is a protein with suggested roles in the cytoskeleton and possibly signal transduction[2][5][9]. TCP11L2 is a paralog of TCP11 (with established testis-specific, fertility-related functions in mouse), but TCP11L2 itself has a broader tissue expression pattern and lacks direct evidence for involvement in specific human diseases or drug interactions at this time[3][2]. It contains the TCP11 conserved protein domain, whose biochemical function remains to be fully characterized[3]. No current safety concerns, biomarkers, or drug mechanisms of action are documented for this protein[2][5][9].
