Overview
The Th1 (T helper type 1) T cell response is a specialized arm of the adaptive immune system, primarily mediated by CD4+ T cells that differentiate into Th1 cells. These cells orchestrate cell-mediated immunity, particularly targeting intracellular pathogens such as viruses, certain bacteria (e.g., Mycobacteria), and protozoa. The hallmark of the Th1 response is its proinflammatory nature and its ability to activate other immune effector cells.
