Target intelligence / Profile preview
Th2 cell activity refers to the functional actions of T helper 2 (Th2) cells, a specialized subset of CD4+ T lymphocytes. Th2 cells are central mediators of the humoral (antibody-mediated) immune response, particularly against extracellular parasites such as helminths, and play a pivotal role in allergic reactions and tissue repair. They orchestrate immune responses by secreting characteristic cytokines including IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-9, IL-10, IL-13, and IL-25, which stimulate B cell class-switching to IgE, activate eosinophils and basophils, promote mast cell hyperplasia, and induce mucus production.
