Target intelligence / Profile preview
CD4+ T helper cells play a central role in orchestrating the adaptive immune response. They recognize antigens presented by MHC class II molecules on antigen-presenting cells and, upon activation, secrete cytokines that regulate the activity of other immune cells such as B cells, cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CD8+), macrophages, and NK cells. Essential for mounting effective responses against pathogens; targeted by HIV leading to immunodeficiency.
