T helper type 2 cell cytokines are a group of signaling proteins secreted by T helper type 2 (Th2) cells—a subset of CD4+ T lymphocytes. The most prominent Th2 cytokines include interleukin‑4 (IL‑4), interleukin‑5 (IL‑5), and interleukin‑13 (IL‑13)[1][3]. These molecules play a central role in orchestrating the humoral immune response against extracellular parasites and allergens by promoting B cell antibody class switching to IgE, activating eosinophils and basophils, and inhibiting certain macrophage functions[1][3]. Overproduction or dysregulation of these cytokines is implicated in allergic diseases such as asthma and atopic dermatitis as well as some autoimmune conditions[1][3].
