In the context of drug discovery, 'T-lymphocyte function' is classified as a biological process rather than a discrete therapeutic target. Therapeutic modulation of this function is achieved by targeting specific molecular entities such as the CD3 complex, calcineurin, or immune checkpoints like PD-1 and CTLA-4 (PubMed, 2022). Because the term describes a broad category of cellular behaviors involving hundreds of distinct proteins, it does not meet the criteria for a single, well-defined molecular target.
